I’m in love with these beautiful wooden statues of the gods, spirts & other folkloric figures in Chuvash mythology. There are over 100 of them in the Suvar Bulgar Ethno Park not too far from Cheboksary in the Chuvash Republic.
According
to Slavic folk tales, rusałki (sing. rusałka) are demonic beings
inhabiting forests and bodies of water. Depending on the region, it was
believed that they were young girls who died before marriage, mothers
who died in childbirth, or miscarried and unb aptized children. Crossing
paths with them didn’t end well for most, as they were known for
tickling people to death! So if you ever go into the woods, stay alert!
I decided to give Tajena tattoos like Catholic women did in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As it’s stated in the article: This tradition originates from the places once occupied by the Turks and its purpose was to prevent young, Catholic women being kidnapped and converted to Islam. Tattooing symbols on the hand however dates even further back than that period.
I like to imagine, women tattooed to keep some demons or evil spirits away. Tajena will also have her chest tattooed.
My lovely friend @dotr-rose-love made a moodboard for Ino. She portrayed the two opposing parts of him: his wish to live a calm and peaceful life, focused on today, and his lust for vengeance fueled by his obsession with the past.
